Govt extends tenure of ED director by a 12 months | India Information


NEW DELHI: The federal government on Wednesday prolonged the tenure of Enforcement Directorate (ED) director Sanjay Kumar Mishra by a 12 months until November 18, 2022, based on an official order.
Final week, the Centre introduced out an ordinance to amend the related acts to increase tenures of the chiefs of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate.
Chiefs of CBI and ED can now have tenures of as much as 5 years, up from the present two years.
The tenures could be prolonged by one 12 months at a time, after completion of two years in workplace, if the extension is permitted by the involved choice committee.
This comes simply forward of Parliament convening for the winter session. The Centre is predicted to get the brand new legislation handed in Parliament through the session.
