NEW DELHI: Chief Justice of India (CJI) N V Ramana on Wednesday recused himself from listening to the plea of Andhra Pradesh which alleged that Telangana has disadvantaged it of its reliable share of ingesting and irrigation water from River Krishna.
The bench, which additionally comprised Justice Surya Kant, took be aware of the submissions of the counsel showing for Andhra Pradesh that the state needed adjudication of the case by the apex court docket bench as an alternative of choosing mediation.

Solicitor Common Tushar Mehta, showing for the Centre, stated that the central authorities has no objection if the CJI-led bench hears the plea of Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier, the highest court docket had prompt “mediation” to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for settling their dispute, saying it didn’t need to intrude “unnecessarily”.
“I do not need to hear this matter legally. I belong to each the states. If the matter could be settled in mediation, please try this. We will help with that. In any other case I’ll switch this to a different bench,” the CJI, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, had noticed on August 2.
