5 terrorists, together with district TRF commander, killed in twin encounters in Kulgam | India Information

SRINAGAR: 5 terrorists have been killed in two gunfights in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district — one in Gopalpora and the opposite in Pombai space — on Wednesday.
IGP (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar stated TRF district commander Afaq Sikander was among the many 5 slain terrorists. Three terrorists have been killed in Pombai and two in Gopalpora, he stated, in operations that have been primarily based on tip-offs from informers.
The encounters have been triggered on Wednesday afternoon when joint groups comprising police and CRPF personnel launched cordon-and-search operations within the two areas and the militants fired on the forces once they began closing in.
The Pombai gunfight started first and the terrorists killed there had not but been recognized. The TRF’s Afaq Sikander was among the many two terrorists killed within the Gopalpura space, Kumar stated.
The police and CRPF, in the meantime, arrested two males linked to the Lashker-e-Taiba in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and recovered IEDs from them. A police assertion stated the 2 terrorist associates have been recognized as Amir Bashir Dar of Sirnoo, in Pulwama, and Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat of Matri Bugh, Shopian.
In a 3rd incident on Wednesday, two CRPF males and two civilians have been injured when terrorists threw a hand grenade at Palhalan chowk, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. All of the injured have been shifted to a close-by hospital for therapy.
